Smallpeice History
The legacy of Dr. Cosby Smallpeice:
From charity to commercial success
Our company name is unusual and distinctive, by virtue of the surname of our founder who was a pioneering engineer and entrepreneur. When Dr Cosby Smallpeice retired in 1966, he founded The Smallpeice Trust as an educational charity with a mission to support British Engineering with training courses focused on his proven business philosophy: “Simplicity in design, Economy in production.”
Smallpeice Enterprises was formed in 1984 as the trading arm of the Trust to provide professional training in design, production, and business improvement techniques. Progressing from a charitable organisation offering free training, Smallpeice Enterprises developed into a commercial operation to support the Trust’s charitable mission to promote careers in science, engineering and technology to schoolchildren and students.
Expanding expertise:
The Four Pillars of Smallpeice Enterprises
Over the decades, the training curriculum expanded and Smallpeice Enterprises was formed as the trading arm of the Trust, focusing on 4 key pillars of expertise: Design Engineering; Lean Manufacturing; Lean Six Sigma; Management Skills.
